The Labex DigiCosme is the Information and Communication Sciences and Technologies (ICTS) lab of the future Paris-Saclay University. It is the result of a research and innovation partnership of more than 10 years between institutions within the framework of a common computer research centre (PCRI) and then the Digiteo Labs Advanced Research Thematic Network.

Information and communication are at the heart of our activities: health, commerce, transport, industrial production, experimental sciences or human and social sciences, artistic creation, social exchanges. Everything goes digital!

Scientific vision

The digital revolution allows us to duplicate and manipulate information in a few clicks, for almost nothing. Information is accessible to everyone and everywhere. This is the promise of a golden age of knowledge. But to keep this promise, we must ensure the sustainable and controlled development of information and communication technologies and thus develop the underlying science.

Every year the Labex DigiCosme is organizing and is bringing together all the scientists in the community to discuss the funded projects during the : Resarch Days

Research axes

The Labex DigiCosme responds to this fundamental challenge of creating “better” digital worlds by developing models and methods to avoid three risks: The first is to be surrounded by programs that “bug”. Users must be guaranteed the absence of design errors, resistance to breakdowns, malicious attacks and the preservation of privacy

  • Axis SciLex: The first is to be surrounded by programs that “bug”. Users must be guaranteed the absence of design errors, resistance to breakdowns, malicious attacks and the preservation of privacy.
  • Axis ComEx: The second risk is to be in a system so overcrowded that information no longer flows. We must reply to the massive growth in data, problems and exchanges, and to do so, we must move from a centralized vision to distributed processing.
  • Axis IID (DataSense): The third risk is to be more ignorant when more information is available. We must transform information into knowledge and understand how to access and interact with massive data, how to organize them, how to give them meaning.

In each of these areas, the Labex DigiCosme will support ambitious research projects and encourage collaboration between partners.

Openings

The Labex DigiCosme will also contribute within Université Paris-Saclay to interdisciplinary projects related to biology, mathematics, physics (areas with which we already have visible actions) but also by establishing new links with the SHS, to develop the information society.
